ELLEN CRISTINA ACIOLI FERNANDES (ELLEN ACIOLI SATERÉ MAWÉ)

Ellen is an indigenous woman from the Sateré Mawé ethnicity. She is a biologist with a master’s degree in conservation and ecology and is an activist for socio and environmental causes since age 15. Ellen is also part of the Coletivo Mulheres Indígenas Suraras do Tapajós (Tapajós’ Suraras Indigenous Women Collective) – the group has been tackling violence and racism against indigenous women, as well as acting on political and economic empowerment and the defence of indigenous territories.

Project: Webbing the Political-Cultural Empowerment Network of indigenous women in the 'Baixo Tapajós' region. The project aims to build a network of political training to the indigenous women of the 'Baixo Tapajós' region through a broader educational programme in indigenous rights, fight against violence against women and ethnic racism.
