BEV MULLANEY

Bev grew up on the Allerton housing estate in Bradford. Her family were very poor, but despite this she gained 9 CSEs at school. She did not have the opportunity to go on to higher education then, however this lack of opportunity didn't stop Bev from going on to become a Nursery Nurse and then open a very successful neighbourhood nursery and out of school provision. This has made it possible for poor and working class families to access volunteering opportunities, employment and education. She has been an anti-poverty campaigner for the past thirty years and she is currently a Labour party ward councillor, and is the poverty champion for the district.
