FiLiA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: GRANTS MANAGER

FiLiA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: GRANTS MANAGER
January 2018

Who are we?
Our organisation is called FiLiA, a word meaning daughter, reflecting our intention to steadfastly continue the work of our fore-mothers to create a better world for our daughters. We are a women-led, volunteer organisation. At the centre of our work is an annual conference showcasing and disseminating the work of researchers, NGOs, campaigners, artists and individuals who focus on improving the world for women and girls.
We were granted charitable status for the purposes of promoting equality and diversity, promoting human rights, and promoting the arts.

Who are we looking for?
One of the challenges that we have faced is making our conference as accessible as possible. We have managed in some areas better than others, for example we have always had a creche and speech to text made available. However, we could do better, and this is where you come in. We are looking for a woman to support us with completing funding applications. Our aim is to apply for grants that will allow us to bring the ticket price down, opening the doors to more women on lower incomes.

When do you start?
As soon as possible!

Who do you report in to?
Nobody! We are all in this together. You will work closely with one woman who will identify grant opportunities, and with others who have access to all the information you may need.

What experience do you need to have?
In an ideal world this opportunity will reach someone who is an expert in grant applications; maybe even someone who has a day job doing the same! But as we know, this is not an ideal world. No experience is necessary, but you will need passion and a real understanding and belief in what we are trying to do. You will need to be organised and be confident in filling out the (sometimes arduous) forms. You won’t be on your own – we have a team of incredible women who will all support you where needed.

What are the next steps?
Write to us at info@filia.org.uk with some information about yourself, including any relevant experience, and why you would like to take this role on, as well as questions you may have.
