Pierrette Pape is Policy and Campaigns Director at the European Women’s Lobby (EWL), where she coordinates the engagement strategy of the EWL with the European institutions and the EWL advocacy strategy in the 5 policy areas identified in EWL Strategic Framework 2016-2020.
She is also the EWL contact point for all work towards the abolition of the system of prostitution: she coordinates the EWL campaign ‘Together for a Europe free from prostitution’, the network of abolitionist NGOs ‘The Brussels’ Call’ and the youth network Youth4Abolition. She coordinates EWL #womensvoices campaign on violence against refugee women and girls, and EWL #HerNetHerRights project on online violence against women and girls in Europe.
She is in charge of EWL advocacy work at United Nations level, being an EWL representative at the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York every March and coordinating EWL work on the SDGs and on the implementation of the UN women’s rights instruments such as the Beijing Platform for Action.
She has been at the EWL since 2009, leading EWL work on violence against women, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and Women, Peace and Security. She has initiated EWL’s work on men and feminism, and coordinated the publication of the second edition of the European Women’s Voice on men and feminism.
She is also an activist in several women’s organisations in Belgium dealing with sexual exploitation, gender and development, and feminist research.
