Megan Charlton is a teaching assistant from County Durham. Although a union member since starting work in schools in 2005, she only became active in response to the Council's plans to change TAs' contracts which would have led to a pay cut of 23%. Since June 2016 she has been Secretary of the County Durham Teaching Assistants' Activist Committee, a grassroots campaign set up to fight the cuts. Since then she has addressed rallies, written articles, blogged about the dispute, become a Unison steward and addressed national conferences of Unison and NUT
