Paula was diagnosed autistic in her mid-40s and has a personal and academic interest in the experiences and well-being of autistic women and girls. She is currently a PhD student at London South Bank University researching autistic motherhood using an emancipatory and feminist approach, including the use of auto-ethnography, with a particular interest in the effect of neuro-normative and sex-normative social expectations experienced by autistic mothers.
