Age 68, mother, grandmother Lesbian. I came out as a lesbian and shortly after that as a feminist. I was a mature student of politics at Sussex University 1978/81. Co-organiser of WAVAW Conference in 1982, Black Feminist Conference 1983 and Black Lesbian Conference in 1984. Later that year I joined Black Sections of the Labour Party and became a Vice-Chair. I brought my feminist politics into Black Sections and was (and am) proud to be out as a Black lesbian feminist Dyke. Since my days as Leader of Lambeth Council 1986-88 I have worked in the media and as an Equalities Adviser, and from 1999 to 2010 as the Director of an Equalities Company with my partner Caroline Jones until her death from Cervical Cancer in 2015.
