Amalia Schirru

2006-2013 Italian MP (Partito Democratico), signatory to a number of motions and amendments queries to denounce  women discrimination and helping  them to overcome inequalities in economic, employment and family. She was among the promoters of several draft laws ,  three of them became law: exclusion from the survivor’s pension of the spouse murderer; abolition of the height limit to serve in the armed forces; authentic interpretation of the law 68/89 compulsory employment for disabled people.

1987-89 Provincial Councillor for Social Policies (Province of Cagliari) she set up the info desk to encourage allegations of ill-treatment, violence and she also set up refuges for women and children who had been abused.

1980-86 Mayor of the town of San Sperate where she promoted and implemented the services for children such as the nursery, home care for old and disabled people in order to promote the reconciliation of family life and work for women . She  has also set up social enterprise formed by women.
