Join Us and #Dance4Freedom

In March, five young women in Iran who posted a TikTok video of themselves dancing without wearing hijab were arrested and mistreated. In support of them and their brave sisters in revolution in Iran, on and around 29 April some of us will be dancing in Piccadilly Circus, and others will be dancing around the country and sending in our videos annotated with #Dance4Freedom.

Dear [Insert MP Name]

I am writing to you as your constituent to let you know that I am taking part in the second FiLiA and One Law for All joint solidarity action for women in Iran, #Dance4Freedom.

Since the murder of Iranian Kurdish woman Mahsa Zhina Amini for ‘improper’ veiling by the Islamic regime of Iran’s morality police on September 16 2023, there have been ongoing mass protests across Iran. Led by women, and supported by men, the slogan ‘Women, Life, Freedom,’ and the bravery of a young generation demanding freedom have inspired me and the world.  Despite our #Hair4Freedom protest last September and continuing protests in Iran the situation has not improved at all.

The regime is digging its heels in and the physical and sexual violence, and deaths of protesters continues unabated.  The regime has also been mass poisoning girls in schools, in an attempt to intimidate them and curb their self-expression  It really is time to step up our external support.

I have two asks of you.  Firstly, that you would call in Parliament for a fully independent investigation into the deployment of chemical weapons on schoolgirls.  Secondly, that you would urge the government to go ahead with their declared intention to designate the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation, with immediate effect.

Thank you for your time,

NAME
