As a grassroots group, we rely on volunteers to make everything possible.
FiLiA is a Women-led volunteer organisation. We began back in 2012 with 2 volunteers and now we have over 70! Below are our current vacancies, but if you wish to create another role that you feel will benefit FiLiA and the Women’s Liberation Movement, please e-mail info@filia.org.uk.
To apply for any of the roles below, please write to us at info@filia.org.uk with some information about yourself, including relevant experience; why you would like to take the role on; how you can be as effective as possible and ask any questions you may have. Please familiarise yourself with the politics of FiLiA before applying.
When do you start?
Immediately
Who do you report in to?
We are all in this together. You will work closely with the trustees to ensure that your work aligns with the politics and ethos of FiLiA but this role is one to make your own.
What experience do you need to have?
You must be passionate about Women’s Rights, organised and determined. Other than that – no previous experience is necessary.
FiLiA recognises that the Women’s movement loses out if it is not informed by the voices and experiences of marginalised Women in our community. Consequently, we particularly welcome Women who are less often heard or purposefully silenced to join us as volunteers.
We aim for FiLiA volunteers to be as diverse as the Women we work with and for.
If you need to submit your application in an alternative format or require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment and selection process please contact us at inclusion@filia.org.uk

You will develop, write and monitor high-quality proposals to generate income that can fund the work of FiLiA.
PAID CONSULTANCY ROLE – HEAD OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS
FiLiA LEGACY PROJECT [CAMPAIGNS AND POLICY]
£25,000, part time.
FiLiA is a grassroots women's charity, which launched in 2012 to continue the Feminism in London conferences. It has since extended its reach by hosting conferences across the UK in Manchester (Salford), Bradford, Portsmouth, Cardiff and, most recently, Glasgow in 2023, where it sold out with around 1,450 attendees. FiLiA's scope now encompasses direct involvement with women in these cities, as well as nationally and globally, with its overarching aims being to build sisterhood and solidarity, amplify the voices of women and to defend women's human rights.
FiLiA is growing and we need your help to make an impact.
The FiLiA Legacy Project – Campaigns and Policy (FLP-CP) is an exciting new project created in response to consistent and increasing feedback from women who have attended our conferences, and it’s now progressing towards its initial year of implementation. The FLP-CP will bring the voices and concerns of women, particularly those who are marginalised, to the national and local policy stage. Women will become confident in engaging with the policy sphere and will develop the knowledge and skills required to effectively campaign for their rights. Through the work of the FLP-CP, FiLiA will be recognised as a trusted policy and campaigns organisation and stakeholder by policy makers, the women’s sector and within wider networks.
FiLiA’s move into the UK policy and campaigns sphere means we are looking for a Head of Public Affairs for one year (with the possibility of extension to two years) from January 2025. This role could potentially be extended to a longer period depending on funding. The successful candidate will set FiLiA up for success, building its authority, credibility and visibility within the policy and campaigning sphere, while maintaining its feminist ethics, values and approach. The role is open to being tailored to individual women and will be on a consultancy basis for the pilot period.
FiLiA covers a wide range of feminist and women’s rights issues. For this pilot project, we are currently identifying which issues will be our policy and campaigning focus for this initial period.

Close working with Head of Policy and Head of Regional Community Engagement to ensure aligned understanding of priority policy issues and positions and key messages.
Attending and contributing to meetings, briefings, reviews, and due diligence, auditing and compliance activities and preparing and presenting papers to senior management, trustees, and other internal and external stakeholders as required.
Establishing quickly personal credibility; developing, maintaining and negotiating effective working relationships with groups and individuals with differing perspectives and agendas; and working with other organisations on joint campaigns and coalitions.
